About Botanical Gardens

Sheffield Botanical Gardens is a 19 acre garden, originally designed by Robert Marnock in the Gardenesque style, which dates from 1833. The site contains the largest collection of listed buildings in a Sheffield garden and a number of other interesting features. The Gardens are also well known for the Grade II* listed curvilinear Glass Pavilions, some of the earliest ever built.

Location

  • The Gardens are 1 mile southwest of the city centre and the the main entrance is on Clarkehouse Road, just along from the Hallamshire Hospital. There are also entrances at Botanical Road and Thompson Road, which is just off Ecclesall Road.

Travelling to the Gardens

  • From the city centre you can get buses 50 or 59 to Clarkehouse Road or you can get the 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, or 86 to Ecclesall Road.
  • If you are travelling by car, take the B6069 to reach the Clarkehouse Road entrance or the A625 for the Thompson Road entrance.

Parking

  • There is no parking inside the Gardens.
  • Parking is possible along Clarkehouse Road and near to the Thompson Road entrance, although restrictions apply during peak times.
  • Coaches can park on Clarkehouse Road near the main entrance.
