About Crucible Theatre - Sheffield
Since its original opening in 1971, the Grade II listed Crucible theatre has become one of Sheffield’s most famous landmarks.
Celebrated within the world of theatre for its unique thrust stage and stellar productions, the Crucible theatre is acknowledged by actors, directors and audiences as being one of the best performing spaces in the country.
The Crucible is also recognised internationally as the host venue of the World Snooker Championships. Televised by the BBC and Eurosport, snooker at the Crucible is viewed by and audience of 14 million in the UK and 200 million worldwide.
Since November 2007, the Crucible has been the subject of a £15.3 million redevelopment, which has transformed the building into a 21st century venue. The first change you will notice on approaching the building is the new glass-fronted entrance, which houses the relocated Box Office. Above the Box Office is the Adelphi Room – named after the Adelphi Hotel that once stood on the same spot – a hospitality suite that offers a glorious view of the Winter Garden, the Lyceum Theatre and Tudor Square.
Come and experience one of the best theatres in the country.
